Russian air strikes in Syira “blatant violation of international law”

The civil war in Syria has been going on since nearly five years. In the process, more than a quarter of a million people were killed and at least 11,000,000 had to flee from their homes due to the constant threat to their lives. Thousands of refugees wait along the border to Turkey, but as of now, only ambulances and a limited number of refugees are allowed to pass.

Russian air strikes in support for the current Syrian dictator, Bashar Al-Assad, have also, as Ban Ki-moon stated it, committed “blatant violations of international laws”. In February, around 50 people were killed when Russian planes targeted hospitals and schools in two northern Syrian towns held by the anti-Assad rebels.

VICE News created a short, 13-minute documentary about the situation in Syria and along the border to Turkey.
